Climate Change Declaration

Hunstanton Town Council Declares Climate Emergency

A recommendation from Hunstanton Town Council's newly formed Environmental Working Party to declare a climate emergency was passed at a full council meeting held on the 16th August 2019.

The motion included making climate change a priority and to work with the community to develop new strategies and plans to help reduce carbon emissions. The council will also take steps to reduce the carbon footprint of the council's activities and infrastructure.

What is Climate Change

Climate change refers to a large-scale shift in the planet's weather patterns and average temperatures.

Environment Policy

Hunstanton Town Council is committed to fostering a more sustainable community which will benefit our present day residents and businesses as well as future generations. Hunstanton Town Council will make climate change a priority and will work with the community and other interest groups to develop new strategies and plans to reduce the carbon footprint of the council's activities and infrastructure.

Single Use Plastics Policy

Hunstanton Town Council aims to become a single use plastic free council. Staff at the Town Hall and Community Centre will be phasing out the use of single-use plastic products in all council activities during 2020.

Balloon & Sky Lantern Charter Pledge

Litter from releasing sky lanterns and balloons can cause many problems.

Please do not release sky lanterns or balloons.
